Waiting On Wednesday: The Iron Witch

The Iron Witch by Karen Mahoney

Release: Febuary 1st 2011

Good point: it will come out in paper back (according to good reads)

From Good Reads:
Freak. That’s what they called seventeen year-old Donna Underwood in high school after a horrific fey attack that killed her father when she was just a child. Her injuries and rehabilitation resulted in magically enhanced strength, thanks to the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. As a child of the alchemists, she is both blessed and cursed with a magical heritage that doesn't leave much room for boys, parties and homework.

Now, after ten years of wishing for a normal life, she finally has to accept her role in the centuries-old war against the darkest outcasts of Faerie: the Dark Elves. Aided by a gorgeous half-fey dropout, Donna must race to save her best friend’s life - even if it means betraying one of the world’s greatest secrets and confronting the very thing that destroyed her family.

Waiting on Wednesday- Beautiful Darkness

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted over at Breaking The Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This Week's Pick: Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margarett Stohl

Hits Shelves: Oct 12th 2010

Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena's family of powerful supernaturals for generations. A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen.

Sometimes life-ending.

Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And now that Ethan's eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there's no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

Waiting on Wednesday- White Cat, Mistwood, Brightly Woven, and Spirit Bound

First off Spirit Bound. This book comes may 18th and I cannot wait to hold it in my hands. This is one of the only Vampire Series that I adore. I am so excited to see this new chapter in Rose's life. And some more Adrian wouldn't hurt. Good Reads:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6479259-spirit-bound

I have been waiting forever for this book. Holly Black is one of my all time favorite Authors. I feel in love with the Modern Faerie Tale Series: Tithe, Valiant, and Ironside. So when I found out out The Curse Workers Series I was estatic. I can't wait to get my hands on this book.

Heres it is in Good Reads:

Gaurdian of the Dead by Karen Healey was a very good read, and one of the only books in a long time that I needed to finish. Though I did have some issues with some points in the plot, be warned I might have some minor spoilers in this review.
Now for the Good: I loved the character of Ellie, she was smart, shy but not to the point of annoyance, in the begining she compalined a bit but that seemed to die out as the book went on. Her best friend, kevin, is hysterical and very crush worth even if he is Asexual. I loved the first half of the book more so than the Second, as the character of Reka really facinated me. The reader doesn't know whether to see her as a victim or as a villian.
The book took many old greek myths such as the Greek Myth of Orpheus: http://http://www.loggia.com/myth/eurydice.html and used the New Zealand folk Lore on Faeries Called: Maori. I loved how the author used these tails to twist into her story and create a beautiful and believeable story, filled with Faerie and Witches (an intersting combination)
Because I had a few issues with the ending I give this an A
